Florida vacation recap

Good morning babes! How have you all been? I feel like I've been away from the blog forever, which I kind of have in blogosphere time. I came back from Florida last week and it's been a little crazy with unpacking and working and Adam's birthday (happy birthday boo!) but I'm finally adjusted to being home and I thought I'd start things off with a few photos from my trip!

palm trees on palm trees

My favorite thing about Florida was definitely the scenery. Don't get me wrong, the Midwest can be beautiful — seriously — but there's nothing quite like palm trees around every corner and bright houses lining the streets. Everything is so beachy, I think I'd feel like I was on a permanent vacation if I lived there.

But I could absolutely get used to going to the beach all the time. This time we went to Melbourne Beach on the Atlantic side, which was beautiful and quiet and perfect for a relaxing Saturday afternoon. Next time I go back I'm hoping we can go to a beach on the Gulf side.

printed shorts for a night on the town

Saturday night we went to Disney Springs, which is a long boardwalk filled with restaurants and cute little shops and entertainment. Thankfully the weather cools down a bit in the evenings, so it wasn't insufferable to be outside all night. We stopped for drinks and dinner and then just walked around for a while to see everything.

margaritas with a lakeside view

lego dragon at Disney Springs

We stopped first for drinks at a cute Mexican restaurant called Paradise 37, and they made the BEST margaritas. Naturally I couldn't turn it down ;) And the Lego store had giant sculptures made out of Legos like this dragon thing that was actually submerged in the water.

shopping haul, part one

My mom and sister and I went on a couple shopping outings while we were there — there are so many great places to shop right around Kissimmee! — and I snagged these gorge statement necklaces for half price at J. Crew. But seriously, the shopping scene there is too dangerous...

Give Kids the World village

We also toured the Give Kids the World village, where my mom's husband is working. It is just the most amazing place — the organization welcomes children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to stay in their own villa for a week and go to all the theme parks and whatever else they want to do while they're here. The village has different activities every night and themed buildings all over the property to keep them entertained, like this ice cream shop that's open from morning till night for unlimited free ice cream — even for breakfast!

photo diary from our girls trip to Florida

I had the best time with these two ladies...even though saying good-bye to my mom was hard, we had so much fun together and quality time we'll never forget. And soon enough I'll be back there for more adventures!

P.S. my Florida packing list and when moms move away
